| Professor Ragavan is at present associated with the University Of Oklahoma, College Of Law as a Professor of law. There she teaches intellectual property law, patent law, trademarks law, seminars on international trade and intellectual property and the law of contracts. Prior to joining the University of Oklahoma, she served as a faculty at the National Law School of India University in Bangalore. She also served as a visiting faculty for the IP program at National Academy for Legal Scholarship & Research in Hyderabad, India. Professor Ragavan received her B.A. L.L.B. (Honors) from the National Law School of India University in Bengaluru, Ragavan received the ODASS Scholarship to pursue her L.L.M from King's College, University of London. She completed her S.J.D. from the George Washington University Law School specializing in intellectual property issues. She was the First Texas Instruments Visiting Scholar at the Center for Advanced Study & Research on intellectual property at the University of Washington at Seattle. Her research interest lies on the interplay between international trade law and intellectual property issues. She emphasizes on the issues that affect developing nations from embracing the trade regime. Her publications have expounded diverse topics like traditional knowledge, pharmaceutical patenting and agricultural subsidies.
As a Fulbright – Nehru scholar Professor Ragavan plans to offer seminar courses on intellectual property law and sustainable development at the National Law School of India (NLSIU), Bangalore. India has evolved from a process patent regime to embracing intellectual property and research. The country is an ideal jurisdiction to float comparative & international law courses. The NLSIU, being the highest ranked law school, draws the best of academics and students. The Center for intellectual property rights at NLSIU deals with the most current issues. She is hoping that her presence in the law school will lead to a result which will be mutually beneficial that extends beyond teaching. |
